How to Use IRC :: Part 1
STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE
In order to use IRC you must install a program on your computer. This program is not very large (usually only a few MB).
* The most popular IRC program for Windows is mIRC (shareware, but the "30 day trial" can be extended indefinitely) which can be downloaded from mirc.com
* Another program for IRC is xchat
* For Linux, you can use IRCII
* Suggested -- If you would like to serve files (upload files to other people) then you should download the SYSRESET program from www.sysreset.com/ (which also includes a version of mIRC). This program will allow you to share your files, download files from other people, chat, and has several handy features and addons.
After you have downloaded and installed one of the above programs, you may move on to: Step 2: Setting up IRC.
