        The first group of villains in the Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon series was known collectively as "The Dark Kingdom." (In the English dub version, they were known as "The Negaverse.") The Dark Kingdom appeared in the first season of Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon (Sailor Moon) in Japanese episodes #1-46 (#1-40 in the DiC dub).
        The Dark Kingdom first appeared during the Silver Millennium, where they tried to take over the Moon Kingdom (they were jealous because the people of the Moon had a long life span). The Moon Kingdom was destroyed, but Queen Serenity managed to use the Ginzuishou (Silver Crystal) to seal them away. However, the Dark Kingdom was re-awoken in the 20th Century. Their base was located in the D Point of the North Pole, under ground. Their job was to collect energy, the Nijizuishou (Rainbow Crystals), and the Ginzuishou (Silver Crystal) to awaken Queen Metaria. The Dark Kingdom was led by Queen Metaria (The Negaforce), with Queen Beryl ruling under her. Queen Beryl was in charge of giving orders to the Shitennou (Four Generals) and Endymion (Evil Darien). The members of the Dark Kingdom used Youma (Monsters) to attack humans and drain their energy. Also, when the Nijizuishou (Rainbow Crystals) were removed from their human carriers, the humans were turned into Youma.
